4. Trophies

Please note that this rule has been amended at the 2016 AGM - This page will be updated in due course to reflect the changes

 

4.1 – The following trophies shall be awarded annually to players:

  • NELSON CUP: For the best batting average in Division 1, 1st XI matches.
  • ARCHER-MORRIS TROPHY: For the best batting average in Division 2, 1st XI matches.
  • BRYAN STOTT TROPHY: For best batting average in Division 3, 1st XI matches.
  • LEES-REAH TROPHY: For the best batting average in Division 1, 2nd XI matches.
  • BODDY-WALKER TROPHY: For the best batting average in Division 2, 2nd XI matches.
  • A & J ATKINSON TROPHY: For the best batting average in Division 3, 2nd XI matches.
  • LAWRENCE WALKER ALL-ROUNDER TROPHY : For the best all-rounder in 1st XI Cricket
  • MIKE HIBBERT ALL-ROUNDER TROPHY : For the best all-rounder in 2nd XI Cricket
  • N & J THREAPLETON TROPHY : For the best batting average in 3rd XI Cricket.
  • NELSON CUP: For the best bowling average in Division 1, 1st XI matches.
  • BARRITT-NEWBOULD TROPHY: For the best bowling average in Division 2, 1st XI matches.
  • E & N HOLROYD TROPHY: For the best bowling average in Division 3, 1st XI matches.
  • CLAUGHTON-COCKROFT TROPHY: For the best bowling average in Division 1 2nd XI matches.
  • JUBILEE TROPHY: Presented by the Members of the 1977 Management Committee for the best bowling average in Division 2, 2nd XI matches.
  • MILLENNIUM TROPHY: Presented by Members of the 2000 Management Committee for the best bowling average in Division 3, 2nd XI matches.
  • DONALD HOLMES TROPHY : For the best bowling average in 3rd XI Cricket.
  • (i) ERIC SCHOFIELD TROPHY: For the best batting average (under 20 years) in 1st XI matches.
  • (ii) ERIC SCHOFIELD TROPHY: For the best bowling average (under 20 years) in 1st XI matches.
  • No overseas player shall be eligible to win either of the Eric Schofield Trophies for under 20 years batting or bowling.
  • BRENNAN CUP: For the wicket-keeper taking the most victims in 1st XI matches.
  • HARRY McILVENNY CUP: For the wicket-keeper taking the most victims in 2nd XI matches.
  • J C CLAPHAM CUP: For the wicket-keeper taking the most victims in 3rd XI matches.
  • ELLICOTT TROPHY: For fielding merit in 1st XI matches, to be awarded by a special panel set up by the Management Committee.
  • ERIC MONEY SHIELD: For fielding merit in 2nd XI matches, to be awarded by a special panel set up by the Management Committee.
  • DON SUMMERSGILL SHIELD: For fielding merit in 3rd XI matches, to be awarded by a special panel set up by the Management Committee.

4 2.- Prizes

Suitable prizes shall be awarded annually to players as follows:

FIRST TEAMS:

  • For the best Division batting and bowling averages.
  • For the best batting and bowling averages (under 20 years).
  • For the wicket-keeper taking the most victims.
  • For fielding merit.
  • THE LAWRENCE WALKER ALL-ROUNDER TROPHY : For the best all-rounder in 1st XI Cricket.

RESERVE TEAMS:

  • For the best 2nd XI Division batting and bowling averages.
  • For the wicket-keeper taking the most victims.
  • For fielding merit.
  • THE MIKE HIBBERT ALL-ROUNDER TROPHY : For the best all-rounder in 2nd XI Cricket

THIRD TEAMS:

  • For the best batting and bowling averages.
  • For the wicket-keeper taking the most wickets.
  • For fielding merit.

FIRST AND RESERVE AND THIRD TEAMS:

    Twelve mementos shall be awarded to each Club winning the League Championship.

  • 4.3 – Qualifications
  •  

Prizes and Trophies shall only be awarded to players who fulfil the following qualifications.

FIRST TEAMS:

  • BATTING: A minimum of 12 innings and 400 runs.
  • BOWLING: A minimum of 30 wickets and bowled in a minimum of 12 league matches.
  • WICKET-KEEPING: Must have kept wicket in 12 matches, and claimed a minimum of 20 victims.

RESERVE TEAMS:

  • BATTING: A minimum of 10 innings and 300 runs.
  • BOWLING; A minimum of 25 wickets and bowled in a minimum of 10 league matches.
  • WICKET-KEEPING: Must have kept wicket in 10 matches, and claimed a minimum of 15 victims.

THIRD TEAMS:

  • BATTING: A minimum of 7 innings and 200 runs.
  • BOWLING: A minimum of 16 wickets.
  • WICKET-KEEPING: Must have kept wicket in 7 matches, and claimed a minimum of 10 victims.
  • To qualify for the “under 20″ prizes a player must be under 20 years of age on 1st September of the previous season. If there are no players fulfilling the qualifications for any prize, the award shall be made at the discretion of the Management Committee.

4.4 – Averages

  • (i) All Clubs shall forward to the League Secretary full details of the batting and bowling averages of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd team players who fulfil the qualifications stated in Rule 4.3. The averages must be signed by two Officers of the Club, and must be received within seven days of the completion of the season.
  • (ii) Clubs whose averages are not received as prescribed in Rule 4.4 (i) shall receive a Level 1 fine. If the averages are not received within a further seven days an additional Level 2 fine shall be imposed and thereafter returns and corrections shall not be considered.
  • (iii) Clubs sending inaccurate or incomplete returns shall be liable to a fine not exceeding a Level 1 fine.
  • (iv) The Management Committee may require to check the averages of players who may qualify for individual awards.

Note: Players who qualify for Awards are advised in their own interests to check with the Secretary of their Club that correct returns have been made by the specified date.
